FAQ

What Data are Available at the RDC?

Information about all currently available datasets can be found on the Canadian Research Data Centres Network website.

How Do I Gain Access to an RDC?

Researchers interested in using the UBC Research Data Centre or any of the other Research Data Centres should visit the Microdata Access Portal. The application includes a research project proposal that is peered reviewed on the basis of academic merit and need for access to the confidential microdata.  Since the application process can take up to eight weeks, researchers should submit their applications well before planning to access the centre.

Can teams of researchers work together across multiple RDCs?

Absolutely! RDCs across the country are networked together, facilitating collaboration across multiple sites.

Who Supports the UBC RDC?

Support for the establishment of the UBC RDC was provided by The Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the BC Knowledge Development Fund. Ongoing operating support is provided by The University of British Columbia, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, and Statistics Canada.
